CALGARY NEEDS PURPOSEFUL PLANNING
I have served the Community of Ward 8 as a Teacher, Business Owner, Committee Member, Fundraiser and Realtor. I would be honoured to serve as your Ward 8 City Councillor.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN WARD 8
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I've volunteered to provide children and youth with opportunities that they otherwse would not have. Here, I am conducting the National Anthem at a Roughnecks game. A long standing member of the JUNIOR LEAGUE, I've volunteered at homeless shelters like Brenda's House and the Mustard Seed. BLANKET REZONING DOESN'T HELP.
AGAINST CALGARY'S BLANKET REZONING
In Real Estate as a Realtor specializing in Ward 8, I have not seen any improvements in affordability due to the Blanket Rezoning. If anything, I have seen the opposite. Blanket rezoning has given developers a green light to charge top dollar and increase rent.
PROTECTING CHILDREN, SENIORS, MOST VULNERABLE
As a school teacher, it is not responsible for a city to remove requirements for public hearings, limit appeal rights and reclassify discretionary uses. Especially when considering crime, transparency, affordability, respecting the public voice and protecting our most vulnerable citizens.
WARD 8 COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTOR & LEADER
As well as volunteering for youth and the homeless, I have volunteered on The Board of Directors at The Glencoe Club, The Calgary Stampede's Western Legacy Awards Committee and the Community Association of Parkhill / Stanley Park. I sat on 2 working groups in Ward 8, opposed to City Hall's Blanket Rezoning.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I respectfully acknowledge with gratitude that we are located on Treaty 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10 territories, home of stories, history, languages, cultures and traditions. We are grateful for the traditional Keepers of Knowledge, Elders still with us and those who have passed. We recognize the land as an act of truth and reconciliation with respet to those whose territory we reside on.
